Epic Wildlife and Jungle Explorer
A tropical paradise that’s home to some of the earth’s oldest rainforests? Welcome to Schoolies in Borneo, an experience that's so utterly unique, it's hard to pass up. Take a walk on the wild side as you dive into village life, exploring hidden waterfalls and acquainting yourself with orangutans, proboscis monkeys and flying lemurs.
Help out on building and renovation projects based in small, friendly communities and sleep under the stars in a traditional longhouse with your schoolies crew. Live every day to the max with boat journeys to magical National Parks, walks through tropical jungles, and we'll even throw in a night of karaoke in buzzing Kuching. One thing’s for sure, Borneo is an adventure from the moment you touch down until the hour you leave.
Your sustainable volunteer project will make lasting, positive difference to the local community. Every Schoolies Unearthed project has been fully researched by the pros, so you’ll be confident in the fact that you’re doing genuinely beneficial volunteer work on your Schoolies trip.
Based in indigenous jungle villages outside of Kuching, you’ll assist at local primary schools, renovating and building classrooms, kitchens, toilets and play areas - all whilst interacting and having a blast with the local kids. These schools are super important to the local community, as they help indigenous children learn Malaysian and prepare for secondary school life.
While working on your project, you’ll stay in traditional longhouses with your SU crew – it’s an amazing insight into the local traditions of the island, a totally authentic experience you’ll never forget.
The World You'll Explore!
A major part of your Schoolies trip to Borneo, is hitting the road and exploring all of what this amazing island has to offer. From a day-trip to the stunning waters of Bako National Park, to experiencing orangutans in real life, Borneo never ceases to amaze.
Other fun activities include swinging through the treetops on a spectacular canopy walk, and hitting the bustling markets of Kuching for a spot of local shopping (don’t forget your party shirt for karaoke!) You can also discover swimming pools and waterfalls, hidden deep in the Borneo jungle.
For your time in the cool cat-city of Kuching, you'll rest up each evening in dorm rooms in a city centre guesthouse. Bathrooms are shared, and everything is supplied to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. During the community project, you'll be living like a local, normally in a traditional longhouse owned by the villagers, and everything will be catered for by your homestay parents. Think of it like one big sleepover with your Schoolies teammates, all under the same roof!
