Himalayan Trekking Adventure
Challenge yourself to the ultimate schoolies adventure in Nepal, trekking the exhilarating heights of the world famous Himalayas, home to Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. Snow capped, vast and dotted with the coolest mountain goats and yaks, the Himalayas have to be seen to be believed. Our Schoolies Unearthed Nepal itinerary combines all the best parts of this dazzling country - you’ll trek, you’ll volunteer in a community, and you’ll have enough downtime to soak up the buzzing city of Kathmandu. Leave your schoolies week with a newfound sense of accomplishment, inner peace and appreciation for the Nepali people and the country’s epic landscapes.
Grab your boots and take a deep breath, this is your chance to take part in one of the TOP trekking experiences in the world. Participate in a breathtaking 6-day trek - a journey that will become the stuff of legends! Hike your way through snow capped peaks, take in soaring views and indulge in hot, sweet chai tea at the end of each long day.
Your accommodation will be small tea-houses (mountain huts) perched high on the hills, with food expertly cooked by your local Nepali trekking guides. Suitable for all fitness levels, experience the thrill of waking up under the clear Himalayan skies - a schoolies story to remember!
Since 2015’s earthquake, the people of Nepal have slowly been rebuilding their lives and infrastructure - but there’s still a long way to go. You and your Schoolies Unearthed crew will lend a hand and contribute to a range of sustainable projects which are closely aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Help to build and renovate schools, water tanks, and other much-needed community buildings while immersing yourself in true village life - living Nepali style and gaining a rich, rewarding cultural experience along the way.
Outside of the big trip highlights - your trek and community project - we’ve made sure you’ve got tonnes of time to relax and explore the magical city of Kathmandu too. Wander around the Monkey Temple and take some amazing photos, check out Durbar Square, or stroll around Thamel looking inside the many mountain goods, craft and souvenir stores. Grab yourself some hot ‘momos’ and kick back with your trekking buddies, watching the world go by.
While in the capital city Kathmandu, travellers can relax in guesthouse accomodation with dorm style rooms (only sharing with other Schoolies peeps from your team). During your Himalayan trek, you'll stay in traditional mountainside teahouses, with a few days of camping thrown into the mix. All tents are supplied, carried and set up for you by your porters at each stop. All you have to do is show up, kick off your boots, enjoy a hot meal and cuppa in the communal "living room" tent, and then get settled in for the night!
